At my university we have a BSc Psychology course (‘straight psychology’), a Psychology with Education course (for people who might want to go into schools or educational psychology) and a ‘Psychology, Philosophy, and Scientific Thought’ which is more general and gets you to think about why and how we learn.

There are also Psychology with Forensic courses (for people with an interest in forensic or ‘criminal’ psychology), Psychology with Health (with an emphasis on healthy behaviours) and many more!

I did a general psychology course (BSc Psychology) and my doctorate was in medical studies, but had a psychology focus. You can do lots of different courses such as clinical psychology, forensic psychology, and educational psychology. I think sometimes it is best to start of with a broad course so you can get a sense of what you enjoy 🙂

I didn’t do any at my school, but at university there are tons of options. You can do Psychology alone, combined honours psychology (with subjects like criminology) or some universities (like mine) offer pathways within their BSc Psychology degrees, e.g., a mental health pathway. You will see these on the UCAS forms and on University websites.
